Jon, I would be interested in reading through the gospels this format is helpful and I find your questions lead me to ask other questions. I need to improve this practice. Thank you for all you do to prepare/ to present/to offer space for thought and insight.
Grace and Peace

a few questions came to me as I studied this morning:

What does "being compelled by the Spirit" feel like? How do you really know it is the Spirit?
How does power and money influence my decisions? or thoughts?
What does it feel like to say good-bye to friends knowing they are about to be attacked by "savage wolves"?
How can I get more clarity around my mission?

Acts 20:24-38 is good material for thinking about the legacy I want to leave. What legacy is God calling me to leave?

This is the only mention of 153 in the Bible. Why not 40? 7? 3? 144? 12? One of the other biggies? Why 153 now?

Jon, these are particularly appropriate questions for me. Thanks for helping me during this Lent season, and now during Holy Week. I am finding I need some boundaries (structure) to help me to focus on what is important now. I am getting into a rhythm of asking questions; however, I now realize reflection and listening are next on the priority list. As I am writing this there is a growing realization that the story is unfolding all around me, so observation is added to the list. Without writing and communicating to someone these thoughts would not even form. I am grateful to you for the platform and the effort on your part to facilitate - the passages and questions are a very helpful guide. Personally I welcome something like this for other themes if you feel so inclined.

The different interpretations of the original texts (and possibly even more to the point, the copies of the originals) is interesting. The meaning can change drastically with very small changes in text... it's a very different thing (to me, at least) to say "by prayer" and "by prayer and fasting", as fasting is far more difficult for most people, and involves a much larger commitment.

I've read an interpretation before that the reference to the kingdom of God coming in power is fulfilled a few days later when Jesus is transfigured, and meets with Moses and Elijah... that IS a pretty powerful manifestation of the kingdom of God.

What do you think?

Okay, someday when you have nothing to do you can explain Mark 4:12.

Or I could do some research, but then my friendly neighborhood social media chaplain wouldn't feel needed! :-)

I truly miss our conversations over a cup of coffee (I mean hot chocolate).

Great interview with Frank Reed!

I like this site as well; even under construction. And it's funny, I looked at the resource list, because I needed some advice on making a major decision and saw the one titled "just decide", and thought it might be applicable. Strangly enough, as o read it, I felt like it was talking directly to me :-) God is truly amazing.

Thank you for always being there.
Chuck

PS
The napkin still says "stay"; as does God.
